PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compositions comprising degarelix for the treatment of metastatic stage prostate cancer in a subject.SOLUTION: A composition for the treatment of metastatic stage prostate cancer is for administration to a subject having a serum alkaline phosphatase (S-ALP) level between 44 and 147 IU/L and a prostate specific androgen (PSA) level of 10-50 ng/mL, at an initial dose of degarelix of 160 to 320 mg and thereafter at a maintenance dose of degarelix of 60 to 160 mg once every 20 to 36 days.
