<p>Device (1,2) for applying a viscous material to a surface from a tube (3a), this tube being provided with a piston (3b) translatable in the tube in the longitudinal direction of the tube, and a nozzle (4), the device comprising a first part (A) which comprises a piston rod (5a) for translating the piston, which piston rod extends during use in the longitudinal direction of the tube at least partially within the periphery of the tube at a distance from the central axis (3c) of the tube which is less than half the thickness of the tube, which device is suitable for driving by means of an electric hand drill, in particular a cordless battery- powered drill (8), comprising a drill head (8a), which device also comprises a second part (B), which second part comprises a mechanical transmission (6), which mechanical transmission is suitable during use for converting a rotation of the drill head to a translation of the piston rod, characterized in that the first part also comprises an extension (5b) connected to a first outer end (u1) of the piston rod during use remote from the nozzle, which extension extends during use in the longitudinal direction of the tube outside the periphery of the tube and laterally of the tube at a distance from the central axis of the tube which is more than half the thickness of the tube.
