PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonography method and an ultrasonography device that can quickly obtain ultrasonic sensor position information dispensing with mechanical ultrasonic sensor position detecting means. ! SOLUTION: A method for ultrasonography according to the present invention comprises the steps of: digitizing an echo occurrence pattern occurring in the ultrasonic flaw inspection data, from the ultrasonic flaw inspection data produced on the basis of an ultrasonic waveform received by an ultrasonic sensor; and comparing the information obtained by digitizing the echo occurrence pattern with data in which pieces of ultrasonic sensor position information having been created beforehand with respect to a plurality of installation positions are associated with pieces of information obtained by digitizing echo occurrence patterns at the installation positions, to calculate the position of the ultrasonic sensor. !
