Class 87(ii) The extrusion head 40 of a machine for extruding tyre treads has recesses 44 with undercut ribs 45 to secure one or two removable baffles 46 which extend through the entire axial length of the extrusion head. Each baffle is changed when a major change in the die plate 25 is made. The baffles may have holes to facilitate their removal. Escape holes 53, Fig. 4, for excess material, may be provided in the die plate, when the extrusion orifice is small, and the excess material may be returned to the machine. The head is fixed to the machine by bolts 42. The die plate 25 may be held in position by bolts 26, screws 126 and a pivoted bar 28. The weight of the bar 28 may be supported on an adjustable lug 36. Conduits 52 may be provided for cooling fluid.
