The method involves determining lock state, and reporting the lock state by outputting a lock message on diagnostic lines (18, 20) through operational network nodes (12a-12d, 14a-14d). An init state is determined and reported by outputting an init message on the diagnostic lines through the network nodes. Signal is detected by the operational network nodes according to a predetermined criterion. The init message and the lock message are issued on the diagnostic lines by diagnosis control devices (D18, D20) i.e. diagnosis tester. An independent claim is also included for a network arrangement.
