PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to make a damage grade index, which damage is caused by the rough skin of an oven wall of a coke oven carbonization chamber. SOLUTION: A plurality of unevenness profiles 900 different in height position of a carbonization chamber 11, which unevenness profiles 900 indicate unevenness amount of the oven wall 14 at each position in the depth direction of the carbonization chamber 11, are produced from image data of the oven wall 14 of the carbonization chamber 11. The unevenness profiles of uniform standard position are obtained by extracting the portions of standard position displacement from the plurality of unevenness profiles 900, and providing the differences thereof. The unevenness profiles of uniform standard position are divided by 100 mm pitch in the depth direction of the carbonization chamber, the minimum value of the unevenness profile values (unevenness amounts) is extracted in each divided section and the average value thereof is made to be the rough skin index.
