PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-based ballpoint pen having handwriting excellent in metallic luster properties and suppressing abrasion of a ball seat.SOLUTION: In a water-based ballpoint pen of the invention, a ballpoint pen tip which freely rotatably holds a ball having a diameter of 0.5 mm or less is mounted directly or through a tip holder on the tip of an ink-housing tube, and the inside of the ink-housing tube includes at least water, a metallic powder pigment and a shear-viscosity reducing agent. In the water-based ballpoint pen, a refill for the water-based ballpoint pen in which an ink composition for the ballpoint pen, including the metallic powder pigment of 0.1 to 10.0 mass% based on the total amount of the ink composition and having an ink viscosity of 1,000 to 5,000 (Pa s) at a shear rate of 0.001 (sec) under the environment of 20°C, is directly housed is provided in a barrel. The water-based ballpoint pen is characterized in that the amount of axial shift of the ball is 30 to 50 μm and the ink consumption per 100 m under the environment of 20°C is 100 to 250 (mg/100 m). |
