The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for setting a work referent point of a machine tool and, more specifically, to an apparatus and a method for setting a work referent point of a machine tool, which detect the contact pressure of a turret equipped with a tool against a workpiece while the turret is being transferred, compensate the work reference point changed by an irregular cross section of the workpiece using the detected pressure, and automatically set the compensated data as the work reference point, thereby reducing the setting time and increasing the accuracy of processing. |
