PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motion vector calculation method for increasing the compression rate.SOLUTION: The motion vector calculation method includes a selection step to select one reference motion vector from a reference block. In the selection step, (i) when the reference block has a first reference motion vector and a second reference motion vector with respect to a reference picture included in a first reference picture list, the second reference motion vector is selected, and when the reference block has the first reference motion vector only, the first reference motion vector is selected; (ii) when the reference block has a first reference motion vector and a second reference motion vector with respect to a reference picture included in the second reference picture list, the first reference motion vector is selected, and when the reference block has the second reference motion vector only, the second reference motion vector is selected. |
