Disclosed are a data transmission/reception method and device in connection for transmitting small data in a connection. The method includes the steps of: transmitting an RRC connection request message including a fast path pointer which notifies small data transmission to a network to transmit/receive small data which is delivered as a signaling message to the network from a terminal; receiving an RRC connection setting message including the fast path pointer from the network; forming an RRC connection for the small data transmission in response to the RRC connection setting message; and activating the fast path transmitting the small data. The terminal transmits/receives the small data with the network through the RRC connection.
