PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image erasing apparatus and an image erasing method for classifying reuse sheets by sizes without performing an operation for classifying user's erased sheets by sizes after image erasure.SOLUTION: An image erasing apparatus in an embodiment includes: an erasure portion erasing images recorded on each of recording mediums; a stock portion in which the recording mediums from which the images are erased by the erasure portion can be loaded with a plurality of sizes mixed; a transport portion transporting the recording mediums from the stock portion in a sheet ejection direction; a sheet ejection portion accommodating therein the recording mediums transported by the transport portion; and a control unit controlling the transport portion to classify the recording mediums by same sizes and to stack the recording mediums while the transport portion transports the recording mediums.
