[Also in Groups XII and XXIII] The chrome-steel of gas-turbine constructional elements such as gas-turbine blades or exhaust pipes of aircraft engines is protected against the effects of vanadium compounds in oil fuel slags by multiple layers of vitreous ceramic material fused thereon. The foundation layer contains Cr 2 O 3 ; the, subsequent layers each fused to a preceding layer also contain Cr 2 O 3 together with increasing amounts of MgO. A final layer of pure chromium may be provided. |
