摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a magnesium alloy which is excellent in corrosion resistance to a saline solution and can obtain a large electromotive force when used as a negative electrode active material for a magnesium battery.SOLUTION: There is provided a magnesium alloy which has a high corrosion resistance to a saline solution and can obtain a large electromotive force when used as a negative electrode active material for a battery by using a binary magnesium alloy composed of magnesium and calcium and adjusting the calcium content to 0.18 mass% or more and 2.26 mass% or less. Further, a material which is further improved in corrosion resistance may be obtained by quenching the resulting magnesium alloy after heating for a fixed period of time.
