The dispenser (100) has a carousel defining compartments without a bottom and rotatably mounted about a vertical axis within a housing. A drive system is fixed in the housing, and rotates the carousel. The housing includes an upstream opening and a downstream opening respectively formed above and below a position in which one of the compartments passes during rotation of the carousel. The upstream opening and the downstream opening are vertically aligned with a window. A tower (106) is attached to a base (102) above a reception housing (104).
