PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detector for which an origin return is not required for specifying a reference position while using relative position detection means.SOLUTION: The position detector includes: signal output means for outputting a plurality of analogue signals; and an A/D conversion means for converting the plurality of analog signals into a plurality of digital signals, and detects the relative position of a position detection object from a reference position on the basis of the plurality of digital signals. The position detector further includes: relative position detection means for detecting a relative position of the position detection object from the reference position on the basis of the plurality of digital signals; absolute position detection means for detecting the absolute position of the position detection object on the basis of the plurality of digital signals; and reference position setting means for setting the absolute position detected by the absolute position detection means at the reference position. |
