Method and system for predicting the channel usage

A method and system for predicting the channel usage of a mobile network resource, the resource being shared among several entities of the mobile network. The method comprises: obtaining forecasted traffic Key Performance Indicators, KPIs, values of the resource from external inputs and from temporal series of KPIs stored in a mobile network operator database; determining a channel usage model based on current channel usage information, selected current traffic KPIs values of the resource and current network configuration information; and calculating the predicted channel usage applying the channel usage model determined to the forecasted traffic KPIs values and forecasted network configuration information.
