<p>It has not been clear in the prior art that how to set a blend coefficient is better without generation of overflow when a color is converted from a wide color gamut to a narrow color gamut. According to an embodiment, an image processing device includes a signal input unit for converting an input signal into a first image signal of a first linear color gamut; a color gamut conversion unit for converting a second color gamut wider than the first color gamut into a second image signal to be expressed in an image output device having the first color gamut; a blend coefficient setting unit for defining a synthesis ratio of the first image signal and the second image signal based on brightness and saturation obtained from the input signal; and a color synthesis unit for synthesizing the first and the second image signals using a ratio based on a set blend coefficient to generate a synthesis image signal. The blend coefficient setting unit sets a first blend coefficient when a brightness or saturation value is greater than or equal to a boundary value which does not cause overflow, and sets a second blend coefficient when a brightness or saturation value is less than a boundary value which does not cause overflow.</p> |
