The present invention relates to a generation system controlling method and, more specifically, to a generation system controlling method which includes a generator to produce electricity by being connected to an engine, a battery electronically connected to the generator, and a control unit to control the generator by receiving a signal indicating the operation status of the generator and battery. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the generation system controlling method includes: a step of deciding if the load difference of a vehicle in operation is small; a step of deciding whether a control maintaining time is smaller than a previously set first reference time with the small load difference; a step of operating a low voltage control with the control maintaining time smaller than the first reference time; a step of operating a high voltage control with the control maintaining time not smaller than the first reference time; a step of deciding whether the control maintaining time is a second reference time; and a step of resetting the control maintaining time.
