A textile material is woven by weaving a first layer 104 comprising warp and weft threads, and a second layer 106 comprising at least weft threads. The second layer may additionally comprise warp threads. The single weaving operation comprises joining the second layer and the first layer as the material is woven. A third layer 108 comprising warp and weft threads may be provided such that the second layer constitutes an intermediate layer of wadding between the first and third layers. The first and second layers may at points in the fabric combine to form a single layer which may define the perimeter of a pocket or a complete garment such as a T-shirt, or a pillow case. The textile may form a curtain with a face layer and a lining layer and may comprise a tubular portion for receiving a curtain pole, and anchors for curtain hooks. The first layer may constitute the inner layer of a garment and comprise a phase change material such as paraffin, and the third layer may constitute the outer layer of a garment and may comprise a nano-chemical finish resisting soiling and water but remain breathable. |
