The rivet setting apparatus (1) has a case (2) for holding a rivet against a workpiece. A rivet setting unit (14) is provided for pulling the rivet. A drive unit (15) is set for actuating the rivet setting unit. A control unit (7) is provided for controlling the rivet setting process. The force sensors (4,5) are provided for determining the pressing forces on the case during the pressing of the rivet setting apparatus at the workpiece. An independent claim is included for a method for detection of tilt of rivet setting apparatus.
