PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston for a combustion engine as an alternative solution for a problem in a conventional technology, concretely, the piston having abrasion resistance to abrasion by a piston ring.SOLUTION: A piston for a combustion engine has at least one ring groove for receiving a piston ring, the ring groove has a piston skirt-side lower groove flank which is further away from a piston head than a piston head-side upper groove flank of the ring groove, and recesses of a certain pattern are formed in the lower groove flank for accumulating a lubricant. Each recess has a discrete internal volume which is separated from an internal volume of adjacent recesses, and has a single opening at its top. Variations of this arrangement are described, in which either one or both of the ring groove flank and the piston ring flank is provided with recesses of a certain pattern. |
