The present invention relates to a method for designing a carbon dioxide fire extinguishing system and a system designed by the method. The method for designing a carbon dioxide fire extinguishing system includes: a fire zone selecting step for selecting a fire zone in which the system is installed; a plan drawing step for drawing a plan of a carbon dioxide fire extinguishing system suitable for the selected fire zone; a design element determining step for determining a design element of the carbon dioxide fire extinguishing system according to the plan for the carbon dioxide fire extinguishing system; a design element confirming step for confirming adequacy of the design element determined in the design element determining step; and a system designing step for designing the fire extinguishing system using the design element with the adequacy confirmed in the design element confirming step. The design element determining step includes: a basic setting step for determining a basic data for the fire extinguishing system; an agent calculating step for calculating the quantity and the content of agent; a cylinder selecting step for selecting an agent cylinder and calculating the quantity of agent cylinder according to the quantity and the content of agent calculated in the agent selecting step; a pipe selecting step for selecting the pipe through which the agent is discharged from the selected cylinder; and a discharging nozzle selecting step for calculating the size and the quantity of discharging nozzle and the discharging time of the agent moved from the agent cylinder through the pipe.
