PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: water-based ink compositions for ball point pens which can inhibit corrosion of an ultra hard ball over time to maintain excellent writing performance for a long time; and a ball point pen incorporating the same.SOLUTION: The water-based ink compositions for ball point pens comprise a colorant, water, and a benzotriazole derivative represented by the specified general formula (1) or a salt thereof, where n in the formula is 0 or 1. The ball point pen incorporates any of said water-based ink compositions for ball point pens. The ball point pen comprises as a writing tip an ultra hard alloy ball made mainly of tungsten carbide. |
