PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display unit having a touch panel function, which prevents DC voltage from being applied to a liquid crystal layer in a liquid-crystal display panel to generate sticking in the liquid crystal layer in a standby mode.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display unit comprises: a first substrate; a second substrate; a liquid-crystal display panel including a liquid crystal held between the first substrate and the second substrate; and a plurality of pixels arranged in matrix. The second substrate has a plurality of detection electrodes of a touch panel. Each of the pixels has a pixel electrode and a counter electrode. The counter electrode is divided into a plurality of blocks. The counter electrode of each of the divided blocks is commonly provided for each pixel of a plurality of continuous display lines, and doubles as a scan electrode of the touch panel. The liquid crystal display unit further comprises means for detecting whether a touch is made in a standby mode of low power consumption by using only the plurality of detection electrodes. |
