<p>A device introduced into columns of a building to reduce its vertical stiffness is disclosed. The device comprises two plates on the top and the bottom to connect the device to the columns, two pipe-shaped connectors, and a drum-shaped body part that includes a plurality of compression springs. By installing the device, the vertical stiffness of the columns will be reduced without undermining their designed strength.</p> |
