PURPOSE: A method for controlling an electromagnetic clutch is provided to minimize power that a compressor consumes to deliver the power of an engine, by maintaining the connected state of a disc and a pulley with the magnetic force of a permanent magnet after the power is cut off. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling an electromagnetic clutch is as follow: checking whether or not a signal for driving an air conditioner is inputted(S100); cutting off power after the power is supplied for a predetermined time when a driving signal of the air conditioner is inputted(S200); generating a magnetic flux of a field coil assembly in the same direction as the magnetic flux of a permanent magnet; detecting whether or not a torque transferred from the outside by the electromagnetic clutch is higher than the driving torque of a compressor(S300); maintaining the cutting state of the power supplied to the field coil assembly if the transferred torque is higher than the driving torque of the compressor(S400); and cutting off the power after the power is supplied for a predetermined time when the stop signal of the air conditioner is inputted(S600).
