The spindle motor (10) has an electrical connection, a base plate (12) with a passage opening (50), and a stator arrangement (38) with multiple stator windings (42) which are fixed on an upper side of the base plate and have a winding wire (44) with a free end. A circuit board (52) is provided with a finger-shaped projection (62) which is guided to the passage opening. The winding wire is positioned relative to the passage opening. The base plate has a recess (58) on the lower side, in which the passage opening and a portion of the circuit board are arranged. An independent claim is included for a hard disk drive with a read-write device.
