SET TOP BOX HAVING LOOP THROUGH OPERATION DURING POWER OFF AND METHOD FOR OPERATING THEREOF

The present invention relates to a set-top box having loop through operation in sleep mode and comprising: a low noise block; a low noise amplifier for low noise amplifying broadcast signals received from the low noise block; a splitter for outputting a signal inputted from the low noise amplifier into two signals; a tuner for conversion outputting one of the broadcast signals inputted from the splitter into an intermediate frequency of a selected channel; and a loop through switch for outputting the one broadcast signal left separated and inputted from the splitter to an external device. The loop through switch operates in sleep mode since a voltage is provided for the low noise amplifier from the external device. Voltage provided for the low noise amplifier is cut by an internal power provision device in standby mode. Voltage is provided for the low noise amplifier from the external device so that the loop through switch operates. According to the present invention, the amount of electricity consumed inside of a set-top box can be decreased when the power inside is on and off.
