The present invention relates to a novel use of retinol for prevention or treatment of toll-like receptor (TRL)-mediated immune diseases, and provided are a pharmaceutical composition for prevention or treatment of toll-like receptor-mediated immune diseases, a health food, and a cosmetic composition alleviating skin inflammatory diseases, comprising retinol as an active ingredient. Since retinol of the present invention can suppress the expression of various inflammatory mediators (TNF-alpha, IL-6, IL-12, IFN-beta, IP-10, RANTES, iNOS, CXCL9 and IL-27), when toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2), toll-like receptor 3 (TLR3) and toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) are activated, toll-like receptor-mediated immune diseases can be ultimately alleviated through this mechanism. Accordingly, the composition of the present invention comprising retinol as an active ingredient can be used as medical supplies such as a pharmacological composition as well as health foods and cosmetic products so that the value of the present invention is expected to be enhanced when being used in food industries, medicine industries and cosmetic industries. |
