A plain bearing 1 for the lower rollers of drafting mechanisms in spinning machines is made of resilient synthetic plastics material and is slit at 5, Fig. 1. The lower part 2 of the bearing is semi-circular in shape and the upper part 3 is rectangular. The split portions of the upper part 3 are held together by a projection 7 thereof which is engaged in a groove 6 therein; alternatively, two grooves are provided and a key 14, Fig. 4, is fitted therein. A lubricant chamber 8 is formed in the part 3 and is supplied with lubricant through a bore 9, which may have a nipple thereon, a lubricant escape vent 10 is also provided. An insert 13 of sintered &c. material may be incorporated in the bearing, which may be produced in development form by injection moulding. The bearing may be stepped at 11, Fig. 2, to effect sealing, with or without sealing elements; alternatively, integral lips may be provided. |
