The method involves combining the symbols of programs to a multi-functional symbol (7) in a sectional manner, where the programs are combined with each other in the practice in a frequent manner. The multi-functional symbol contains all visually represented portions (4,5,6) of the used individual symbols (1,2,3). An interactive liquid-crystal display is provided for selecting a program combination of the contact of a surface section, at which the multi-functional symbol is displayed.
