The present invention proposes an apparatus and a method for document pre-working for copy detection. The method of the present invention comprises the steps of (a) inputting a document, of which the copy is to be detected, to the document pre-working apparatus by an input means; (b) allowing the user to select one among a plurality of different sensitivity levels for the input document; (c) pre-working the document according to the sensitivity level selected in step (b); and (d) storing and outputting the pre-worked document.
