Method and apparatus for retrieving a media file of interest

A method for retrieving a media file from a media rendering device with an initial set of media files stored in the device is suggested. Each media file has attributed feature values stored in the device. The device comprises a display for displaying graphical elements. Each graphical element is associated with one media file of the initial set of media files; the position of each graphical element depends on a multitude of the associated features values of the media file; the method comprises the steps receiving and storing a new set of media files in the device, calculating the position of graphical elements associated with the media files of the new set of media files based on a subset of the multitude of associated feature values, displaying the graphical elements associated with the media files of the new set of media files on the display on the calculated positions, and selecting one displayed graphical element to retrieve the associated media file.
