PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer sheet capable of preventing weaving from occurring when sequentially taking up a used thermal transfer sheet after image formation, and an image forming method capable of preventing weaving from occurring.SOLUTION: A thermal transfer sheet comprises a dye layer disposed on one surface of a base material, and a back surface layer disposed on the other surface of the base material. A detection mark is formed further on the base material, and the detection mark includes alumina particles or calcium carbonate particles as inorganic particles.
