PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably producing a press-molded article which can cope with even a thin molded article, is excellent in isotropy being a mechanical property, is shaped easily into a three-dimensional form, and has a complicated shape and to provide the press-molded article obtained thereby.SOLUTION: In the method for producing the press-molded article, a sheet-like product comprising a reinforcing fiber containing a fiber or a particle of a thermoplastic resin is press-molded with 0.1-100 MPa pressing force. The thermally-deformable sheet-like product contains 5-70 wt.% of the reinforcing fiber, which comprises 40-100 wt.% of a carbon fiber and 0-60 wt.% of a heat-resistant organic fiber, and 30-95 wt.% of thermoplastic material. The fiber length of the heat-resistant organic fiber is 10-100 mm and that of the carbon fiber is equal to or shorter than 100 mm. The mean value of two-dimensional orientation angles each of which is formed by a reinforcing fiber single yarn and another reinforcing fiber single yarn, which cross each other, is 5-90 degrees. The sheet-like product has 0.03-1.00 mm thickness and 50-1,000 MPa tensile strength at 25°C. |
