PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide mammalian multipotent adult stem cells (MASC), and more specifically to provide methods for obtaining, maintaining and differentiating MASC to cells of multiple tissue types and further to provide uses of MASC in the therapeutic treatment of diseases. SOLUTION: The present invention provides cells differentiating to each of mesodermal, ectodermal and endodermal lines and provides cells and a cell population actually differentiating to at least one of these cell types.
