摘要 A flexing motor is comprised of a stack or column [Fig 5] of electromagnets [Fig 1, 1] that are inter connected through a sequence of hinging mechanisms 8 and pivot locking mechanisms 7 such that the attractive force between any one electromagnet and the next can contribute to the actuation forces experienced at the ends of the stack. The relative position of the hinging and locking mechanisms along the stack may be selected to meet a specific flexion requirement such that the flexing motor may actuate the ends of the stack within 6 degrees of freedom [Figs 5, 6 and 9] using a regulation or control means [Fig 11]. The electromagnets may be fitted with a magnetic flux sensor and a proximity sensor [Fig 4; 12 and 13] in order that a regulation device may receive the sensor data as feedback and with provided set point data calculate the magnetic flux density in the air gap and regulate the applied force, regulate energy consumption and regulate the shape of the flexing motor and its actuation trajectory. The device may be incorporated into a knee brace splint to aid a persons movement [Fig 8].
