<p>A process for the recovery of 6-halopurines from a reaction mixture produced by the halogenation of hypoxanthine with a halogenating agent in the presence of an organic base, comprises adding an alcohol to the reaction mixture to precipitate crude 6-halopurine, and separating off the said precipitate. Mixtures of alcohols may be used. An additional organic non-solvent (other than alcohols) for 6-halopurines may be present, e.g. hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons.</p> |
