PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the adverse effect of insulation deterioration and filter fouling caused by black smoke, salt air, or dust to the utmost, by reducing the intake of the black smoke, salt air, or dust included in the flue gas of an engine into the inside of a power storage device as much as possible. SOLUTION: In a rolling stock of a series hybrid system for driving a motor by use of DC power supplied by both of a power generation means 9 driven by an engine 1 and a power storage means 2 in combination with each other, an integrated control unit 5 controls the operation of a fan 3 for cooling the power storage device so as to stop the cooling fan 3 for the power storage device 2 to the utmost, when the temperature of the power storage device 2 is a predetermined temperature or lower; the black smoke included in the flue gas from the engine 1 tends to be generated; or the rolling stock runs in a section in which the same is likely to be affected by salt air or dust, for example.
