发明名称 METHOD FOR PRODUCING POLYHYDROXYALKANOATE USING MODIFIED FAT OR OIL COMPOSITION
摘要 The present invention addresses: the problem of providing a plant-derived carbon source that is modified for the purpose of producing a high molecular weight polyhydroxyalkanoate that has excellent processing characteristics; and the problem of providing a method for producing a polyester using the modified plant-derived carbon source. It is found that butanoic acid, pentanoic acid and hexanoic acid can be efficiently removed by processing the high free fatty acid fraction of a carbon source that is derived from a vegetable fat or oil with activated white clay, and it is also found that a polyhydroxyalkanoate having a higher molecular weight can be produced by culturing microorganisms using the thus-processed carbon source. Provided is a method for producing a polyhydroxyalkanoate, which is characterized by culturing microorganisms using a plant-derived carbon source wherein the total content of butanoic acid, pentanoic acid and hexanoic acid is 50 mM or less and the free fatty acid content is 20% by weight or more.
