摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a cathode active material for a lithium-ion battery in which rate characteristics can be improved further, according to extremely simple techniques.SOLUTION: Hydroxide raw material powder is prepared which is composed of secondary particles resulting from coagulating a number of primary particles having a composition represented by NiM(OH)(wherein 0<y&le;0.5 and M is at least one or more kinds of metal elements selected from the group consisting of Co, Al, Mg, Mn, Ti, Fe, Cr, Zn and Ga) and at least a part of the primary particles is arranged radially outwards from the center of the secondary particles. Rapid temperature alteration to a highest reachable temperature of 500 to 1000°C and thermal decomposition are performed on the raw material powder at a rate of temperature increase of 50°C/min or more and/or through atomization heat decomposition, thereby generating oxide powder with cracked open pores. The oxide powder is reacted with a single lithium compound or a combination of a chemical compound containing a metal element M and the lithium compound so as to give a predetermined composition, thereby obtaining a cathode active material for a lithium-ion battery.
