The method involves detecting a license number plate (1) by a mobile sensor system (2) i.e. optical camera, that is arranged in a vehicle (10). The license number plate is compared with anonymous selected license number plates in a database (3) that is arranged in the vehicle. Vehicle-referred and/or holding-referred data to the license number plate is retrieved from another database (7) that is provided outside the vehicle, and a signaling is output. Resuming data is wirelessly encrypted from the latter database. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling a road user based on a license number plate by a vehicle.
