The invention relates to a sandwich element (1), which comprises a top layer (2) made of a material having a high tensile strength, a middle layer (3) made of EPP and a bottom layer (4) made of a material having a high tensile strength, wherein the middle layer (3) forms a core (K) having a high compressive strength which runs between the top layer (2) and the bottom layer (4), which core protrudes beyond the top layer (2) and the bottom layer (4) in such a manner that it forms a circumferential marginal region (R3a) on a top side (1a) of the sandwich element (1) and that it forms a circumferential marginal region (R3b) of the sandwich element (1) on a bottom side (1b) of the sandwich element (1).
