1,191,439. Compression-moulding. VILLEROY & BOCH, KERAMISCHE WEBKE K.G. 24 April, 1969 [30 April, 1968], No. 20984/69. Heading B5A. A compression moulding machine for simultaneous pressing of articles, e.g. ceramic tiles comprises upper plungers 2, Fig. 1, lower hydraulic rams 6 supporting the articles 3 during pressing and hydraulic biasing means so that the lower rams yield downwardly during pressing but are returned upwardly after pressing, a cylinder 21 hydraulically connected with the rams 6 and with the hydraulic biasing means and a shuttle piston 15 to limit liquid flow between the hydraulic biasing means and the lower rams. As shown in Fig. 1, pressure is applied to the larger face 19 of piston 15 and to its smaller face, biasing it against stop 18 and pushing rams 6 upwardly via duct 13 and space 10 common to all rams 6. During pressing, rams 6 are biased downwardly, piston 15 moving to the right (Fig. 2, not shown). Fluid is prevented from returning through duct 16 by check valve 17, which may be protected from excess load by slide valve (22, Fig. 3, not shown) attached to piston 15 disconnecting valve 17 from space 14 during pressing.
|
