A spinning room preparation machine, for example a cleaner, carding machine or the like, for opening and cleaning fibre material, especially cotton, comprises an opening roll 7 arranged downstream of a feed device. The feed device comprises at least one intake roll 3, 4 which defines with the opening roll a transfer point (9, figure 1a). At least two separating blades 11, 12 or separating edges are directed against the direction of rotation of the opening roll and a guide element 13 is arranged upstream of the second separating blade 12. The first separating blade 11 is adjustable in a direction tangential relative to the periphery of the roll 7 to adjust the spacing of the blade from the transfer point (9). Tangential adjustment advantageously means that the spacing between the transfer point (9) and the separating element is increased or decreased by a greater amount than the spacing between the separating element and the periphery of the opening roll 7. The adjustment may be made by manual or motor operation of a rack and pinion (19, 20, figure 2). |
