The present invention provides a method and apparatus for performing energy analysis of a building by extracting shape and location information of a space of the building and objects belonging to the space, included in an industry foundation classes (IFC) file, which is an international standard file format. The building energy analysis method using the IFC file according to the present invention comprises the steps of: recognizing a space entity of an analysis target building from the IFC file, and extracting shape and location information of the space; recognizing one or more object entities belonging to the recognized space entity, and extracting shape and location information of each object; converting the shape and location information of the extracted space and object entities into data required for energy analysis of the building; mapping the converted data according to a selected file format to generate an input file necessary for the energy analysis of the building; and calculating an energy maximum load of the building by using the input file and outputting the calculated result value.
