Disclosed in the present invention are a hydrophobic flame retardant fibre and a method for preparing same. The fibre has a volume ratio of shell to core of 2:8 - 6:4, characterized in that the fibre shell layer material has the following composition by weight percentage: 79.9-88.8% of PET, 8-13% of PVDF, 3-6% of a fire retardant, 0.1-0.5% of a compatibilizer, 0.1-0.6% of a coupling agent; the compatibilizer is one of an acrylate grafted polyolefin elastomer and a maleic anhydride grafted polyolefin elastomer; the fibre core layer material has the following composition by weight percentage: 91%-95% of PET, 5-9% of a fire retardant; each of the fire retardants is one of polysulfonydipheylene phenylephosphoate, aryl polyphosphate, poly-p-phenylene phenylphosphate and poly(p-diphenyl sulfone phenylphosphate). The method for preparing the fibre follows the following process: 1. manufacturing a flame retardant slice; 2. manufacturing a fibre shell layer material, 3. manufacturing a fibre core layer material; 4. manufacturing a hydrophobic shell-core composite flame retardant fibre. |
