PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently obtain a high-precision metal ring by correcting a drum to have a nearly true circular shape and smoothly inserting a work holding member into the drum.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a metal ring includes the steps of: determining, when a minimum clearance L between an outer peripheral surface 16a of a diameter-reduced work holding member 16 and an inner peripheral surface 12a of a drum 12 is provided over the whole circumference of the drum 12, the minimum diameter Ra of an inscribed circle inscribed in the drum 12; determining correction load enabling the drum 12 to be corrected so as to have a shape having an inscribed circle with the minimum diameter Ra or greater (a nearly true circular shape); and correcting the drum 12 by application of the correction load via correction members 20 and 22. |
