Each station of the system of the present invention includes a transfer circuit along which vehicles that are not coupled to the cable travel, said circuit having an intermediate section (22, 122) provided with means (24) for driving the vehicles (10), at a reduced speed, along at least one unloading and/or loading station. According to the invention, the groups of vehicles are assembled directly along the cable (C), two consecutive vehicles of a single group being separated by a first distance (d), while two consecutive vehicles in two different groups are separated by a second distance (D) that is greater than the first distance, a control means (25) being suitable for deactivating the drive means (24) during loading/unloading, so as to immobilize a first group of vehicles (10-1, 10-2) at a given station (30, 40), and for then activating the drive means so as to evacuate said first group and enable the following group (10-2, 10-3) to replace the first group. |
