PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive novel type of green luminophor comprising mixed rare-earth phosphates.SOLUTION: The invention relates to a method of producing a novel luminophor from a precursor containing particles having a mean diameter ranging from 1.5 to 15 microns. The particles each has an inorganic core and a shell, which is made of a mixed lanthanum and/or cerium phosphate optionally doped with terbium and evenly covers the inorganic core with a thickness greater than or equal to 300 nm. The inorganic cores of the particles are made mainly of a phosphate or an inorganic oxide, particularly a rare-earth metal phosphate or an aluminum oxide, and essentially of lanthanum phosphate LaPO. The mixed phosphate of the shells is represented by the general formula (I) defined by LaCeTbPO, where x ranges from 0 to 0.95; y ranges from 0.05 to 0.3; and the sum (x+y) is less than or equal to 1. |
